Participating in the Royal Princeton In-heritage Philharmonic International Visual Arts Competition offers students a unique opportunity to broaden their horizons and enhance their artistic skills. Kindergarten, primary and secondary students may potentially open the doors to scholarships, prestigious summer course packages at Cambridge University and Oxford University in the UK, award ceremonies, art exhibitions, gifted programmes, and opportunities for admission to preferred universities.

Top winners, having achieved the highest scores in their respective school year levels, are set to receive prestigious Royal Princeton Scholarships. Those top winners who achieve the Royal Princeton Super Cup Top Award may qualify for full packages, including scholarships, air tickets, meals, and accommodation for prestigious summer courses at Cambridge University and Oxford University in the UK!  Additionally, these distinguished students will be invited to attend the esteemed Royal Princeton In-heritage Philharmonic Top Winners Ceremony, which will be held in the afternoon on Saturday, 7th June 2025, at HKPC Conference Hall, Kowloon Tong, Hong Kong. Such recognition may boost their confidence and inspires continued excellence and dedication in their future endeavours. 

We are proud to announce that the Royal Princeton In-heritage Philharmonic International Visual Arts Competition will be evaluated by a distinguished panel of international judges, bringing diverse perspectives and expertise from around the globe. Leading this esteemed panel is our chief judge from Australia, Ms. Sandra Tobias.  Ms. Sandra Tobias has extensive experience as an international artist, with over 30 solo and group exhibitions worldwide, including Australia, Tokyo, and Hong Kong.  Furthermore, she brings over 30 years of international teaching experience in visual arts, having served as the Head of Art and Design at prestigious IB high schools and universities. With her renowned reputation in the art world, Ms. Tobias will ensure a fair and insightful assessment of all entries, maintaining the highest standards of excellence throughout the competition.

Register before 31st December 2024 for a discounted entry fee of HK$180.
Regular Registration
Register before 20th February 2025 for a regular entry fee of HK$195.

Artwork Submission Guidelines
Format
The artwork must be two-dimensional.
Multiple Entries
Each artwork is counted as one entry. Entrants are allowed to submit more than one entry. Each entrant may receive one award from one competition for the higher ranked piece of artwork.
Submission
Entries must be submitted via the online Entry Form. Convert your artwork to graphic JPEG file format. Each file size is up to 25 MB. The digital file name of the artwork should be put in the following specific name format: 
SchoolYearlevel_Lastname_Firstname_ArtworkFirstwordTitle’
For example, P3_Chan_Tai_Man_Ocean, or Y10_Johnson_Emily_Rain.
Originality
The artwork must be entirely the participant’s own original creation by hand. Photoshop or AI-generated methods are prohibited. The artwork must not incorporate any copyrighted materials. Additionally, the content of artwork must be free of any offensive or inappropriate elements, including but not limited to hate speech, graphic violence, or explicit content. Any submission found to contain copyrighted or inappropriate material will be disqualified from the competition. Please note that disqualified submissions will not be eligible for refunds under any circumstances.
Description
Description: Write the description of the artwork in English only: (1) title of the artwork, (2) used medium(s) (e.g., oil painting on canvas, watercolour, coloured pencil), (3) original size (e.g., 30 cm x 42 cm), and (4) symbolic meaning of the artwork between 30 and 300 words. The text file must be typed using Microsoft Word, Excel, or in a PDF formatted file.
Criteria for Judging and Evaluating Two-Dimensional Artwork

Each criterion should be scored individually, and the total scores can be used to determine the overall ranking of the artwork. This multi-faceted approach ensures a comprehensive evaluation of artistic merit.

1. Creativity and Originality:

  • Does the artwork reflect an original concept or idea?
  • How creative is the approach to the theme of “Colour My World?
  • Does the artwork depict a uniquely personal expression?

2. Composition and Design:

  • Is the composition balanced and aesthetic?
  • Are the elements and principles of art applied effectively?

3. Technical Skill and Execution:

  • How proficiently has the artist used their selected medium?
  • Is the artwork well-crafted and detailed?
  • Does the artwork demonstrate proficient application of technical skills?

4. Use of Colours:

  • Are colours used thoughtfully and intentionally?
  • How do colour choices contribute to the overall impact of the artwork?
  • Does the artist demonstrate an understanding of colour theory?

5. Memorable Impact:

  • How does the artwork communicate ideas, meanings, and symbols?
  • How effectively does the artwork express a message or story?

6. Theme Interpretation:

  • How well does the artwork reflect the theme of “Colour My World”?
  • Does the artwork explore and interpret the theme in an insightful way?
